As we all know that Indian government and Social Media Companies are not having a good time in recent times. There was news of Twitter ban, Facebook limitations and much more. So, what’s the update?
Under the new IT rules released by India, every social media platform is required to appoint a special grievance officer to take care of users’ complaints. Not only a grievance office, but also a team that includes nodal officers and compliance officers. Besides, the grievance office must be the residents of the country.
The new rule will certainly support users to effectively use the digital platform and is expected to reduce abuse and misuse. As per the guidelines, the social media platform will put down the flagged content (nudity, pornography etc.) within 36 hours of the report, and completely remove the content within 24 hours.
The officer will acknowledge the receipt within 24 hours and will take not more than 15 days to resolve it.
Companies are requested to strictly maintain the guidelines, and follow the new IT rules.
