In the digital age, our personal information is increasingly vulnerable. Recently BOAT faced a huge loss due to a sudden data breach attack. Personal information of more than over 7.5 million customers' data is leaked and available on the dark web. As per reports, the leaked data is now available in dark web forums and is being sold for as low as $217. The leaked data includes sensitive information (PII) such as name, address, contact number, email IDs, and customer IDs. The hacker's name is ShopifyGUY who is behind the attack. The hacker claims to have accessed the company's database on the 5th of April 2024. This individual claimed responsibility for dumping approximately 2GB of stolen customer data onto a dark web forum. Security Experts believe the affected customers are at a higher risk of financial fraud, phishing scams, and identity theft. Cyber Security threat researchers warned that BOAT could suffer significant consequences including a loss of customer trust and potential legal ramifications. The company is yet to issue an official statement regarding the hacking incident.
