Indian Companies Are The New Cyber Attack Hub In The World

The Acronis Cyber Readiness Report 2020 has put out a serious concern for Indian companies. The report ranked India as the top victims of the cyber attacks, compared to the other developed nations amidst COVID-19. The companies have also mentioned that their IT costs have immensely grown in the last few months (almost double) due to the cyber attacks.

As stated in the report, around 92% of the companies are relying on advanced technology to work remotely, safeguard their data, and maintain other security measures.

It is very much true that the spread of coronavirus and work from home tactic has made it hard for the IT professionals. It is very challenging for them to track employees' systems and prevent companies' confidential data.

Further, the report revealed that evil hackers had taken advantage of the pandemic and targeted remote employees. Video conference attacks are the most commonly experienced attacks by people.

Some of the major gathered information is as below:

• In the past 3 months, 39% of companies have encountered video conferencing cyber-attacks globally. Apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco Webex were risky to use. Interestingly, India recorded high rates of these video attacks and ranks at the top of the world with 66%.
• During the pandemic, ransomware attacks were also highly detected. Around 31% of companies were daily reporting against malware worldwide. Whereas 50% of the organizations were attacked once a week. In India, the results were double compared to any other nation, followed by the US and UAE.

The phishing attacks were not behind. The data shocks as only 2% of the companies use URL filters; the remote workers were open to cyber attacks. As recorded, 62% of Indian companies were struggling against these internet criminals.
